Organised by the Stroke Association, the Life After Stroke Awards recognise and celebrate journeys of immense courage and determination by stroke survivors and carers. The 2017 award ceremony was held at The Dorchester Hotel in London and was hosted by Chris Tarrant OBE.

We were tasked with providing full technical production for the evening including lighting, sound, video, staging and starcloth. With the annual award ceremony also being streamed on Facebook Live, the pressure was on to deliver a truly spectacular celebration that worked for both an online audience and those in the room.

With a host of top celebrities in attendance, we worked closely with the Stroke Association events team to deliver the high level of production and incredible attention to detail required for the prestigious occasion.
Ensuring the evening was beautifully lit, uplighters were placed around the event space with intelligent lighting used for the glitzy awards ceremony. Audio was provided using a high-quality sound system whilst video content for the evening was delivered on a widescreen 10m x 3m central LED screen. To add an extra touch of glamour, we installed a star cloth backdrop behind the stage as well as providing an unusual purple carpet for the grand event entrance.

“Hawthorn provided a first-class production and audio visual service for our flagship event – the Life After Stroke Awards. The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of people affected by stroke. It is crucial that we ensure both our award winners and guests have the best possible experience at our event and the production is a huge part of this experience. The team really pulled together and ensured everything ran smoothly and on time. We had strong feedback from our guests that it was our best ever event, and the Hawthorn team played a big part in this.”
